Pneu Back

pneuBackInsets.jpgThe Pneu-Back program™ is a documentable approach to proactive and reactive back care. The emphasis is on posture, flexibility, functional strength and lifetime skills. The Program is designed to accommodate those with a variety of physical issues.
  • Orthopedic Patients
  • Knee, Hip, & Ankle Injury
  • Hip and Knee replacement
  • Chronic and Acute Back Problems
  • Gait Training
  • Cardiovascular Problems
  • Overweight Patients
  • Respiratory Ailments
  • Neurological Patients (strokes, MD, CP, MS, paraplegics)
  • Assist in lifting wheelchair Patients
  • Balance and proprioceptive Problems
  • It allows cardiovascular conditioning for overweight patients

The Pneu-Weight™ equipment allows us to perform lumbar, thoracic and cervical unweighting and, axial distraction without recruitment of other muscles. Unweighting allows the patient to perform low-impact kinetic exercises in an upright functional position. Activities such as walking, running, stair climbing, jumping and balance may all be performed safely in an unweighted condition. The Unweighting system uses pneumatic power provided by a compressor and the Pneu-Vest™ to support the patient.

Unweighting allows rehabilitation to begin sooner, utilizing task specific functional exercise without the pain. The amount of weight taken off is precisely controlled by the clinician 10-300 lbs, and the unweighted body weight is supported through a 30" oscillation range allowing the patient the ability to walk, run, perform step-ups and step-downs, re-train from sit to stand and do full or partial squats in the Exercise Mode. The Pneu-Weight" also gives you the ability to do unweighted lateral and retro exercise.

The Pneu-Back
A New Approach to Managing Lumbar Stability
Lumbar instability is one of the most challenging spinal diagnoses seen in orthopedic physical therapy. Until now, What has not been available is a reliable system to access the spinal curves and segmentally strengthen the paraspinal musculature while providing long-term stabilization. Over the past 10 years, the Pneumex Corporation has done a significant amount of research with the aid of many physical therapists in designing what is now known as the PNEU-Back (distraction system). This program has clinically been shown to be one of the most advanced and effective systems for assessing and treating lumbar instabilities.

  • Stabilize the pelvis
  • Eliminate recruitment of the gluteal and hamstring muscles
  • Recruit the erector spinae muscles for strengthening
  • Increases range of motion
  • Provide specific vertebral stabilization for postural adjustment
  • Use with distraction for treating Scoliosis and other spinal conditions
  • Strengthen the lower back muscles
  • Treats budging disc’s
  • Strengthens core muscles

Pneumex is the origin of the Pneu-Back Program™ offering cutting edge treatment programs for chronic back pain, Scoliosis, Kyphosis, athletic performance training and balance programs. At this point, the Pneu-Back Chair™, which is also know as an Isolation Back Chair, is introduced into the treatment plan. The Pneu-Back Chair™ is designed to stabilize the pelvis by eliminating the recruitment of the gluteal and hamstring muscles. The erector spinae musculature are isolated and recruited for strengthening. The chair also provides specific quadriceps stabilization for both postural alignment and additional trunk stability during exercise.
