If you suffer from headaches, consider avoiding or managing the following frequent triggers for lasting pain relief:

Stress—hormonal and physiological reactions to stress can trigger neck pain, tension and headaches. If this is a common problem for you, carve out time for yourself for relaxation, proper nutrition, exercise and getting enough sleep. Stress can also adversely affect posture, particularly in the neck, which can lead to pinched nerves. Spinal adjustments can help correct alignment problems and provide relief.

Environment—Think about the last time you had a bad headache (migraine or tension). Did bright lights, intense smells like cigarette smoke or paint, or loud noises figure into the onset of the pain?
